First step to quitting Facebook is to admit you have a problem

Is Facebook taking over your life?

facebookIt is for many of us and here’s how one person, a reporter for the Washington Post, is coping with it and moving on with her life:

It became clear almost immediately that “social networking” was really a euphemism for goofing off with work friends (or neighbors) who are also just goofing off

She continues:

Before long, my circle of work friends wasn’t enough. I needed more.

I began to search for people from high school. I was confused, though, by some photos of my supposed classmates. Who were all these old people with unfamiliar names? I reconsidered. Did I really want to suffer the rejection of high school over again?

In an ironic twist, she thinks about starting a Facebook addicts group when she took stock of her life and found dirty dishes piling up and disheveled hungry children lying about and mail accumulating on the desk.

I wondered how many of these people appreciated the irony of signing on to Facebook to get help for their Facebook addiction. Surely it is somewhat akin to an Alcoholics Anonymous group enjoying a round of margaritas during a meeting.

It’s an amusing account.  Check the whole article out here.
